I know I’m gonna be paying for this, but I am a total glutton for punishment.
I went out for a 4K run this morning…in the humidity…with my plantar fasciitis still acting up.
God, it felt so good to be out there! My running friends, you understand what I’m saying, right? Is there really anything that beats the feeling you get from running? I think not…
I was running at an über-good pace, too. I beat my PR by nearly 30 seconds! I ran the first kilometer at a pace of 7:13 (about my average), but the next three K were all run at under 7 minutes. In fact, at one point, I was running at 6:46! Yes, I know!! So despite the pain in my foot, I am very proud of my achievement today.
This morning, I met with my colleague Tim who is, if I may say so, an elite runner. He helped me outline a plan of attack to increase my mileage and my time. I am super-stoked about starting this new schedule, but he recommends that I rest and wait until my foot has healed. 😦 Unfortunately, he has also been sidelined due to injuries; he has been running for a long time so I’m pretty sure he knows what he’s talking about. Well, what the hell am I supposed to do instead? There’s only so much my tennis ball can take! Any advice out there for cross-training? I don’t have a bike, so I can’t cycle (I find the stationary bike boring…) and I’m not a strong swimmer. I work out with Brendan once a week…what else can I do that won’t make my PF get worse? If you have any thoughts out there, I’d love to hear them!
