Day 29 – Dirty 30’s December 16, 2011

When I got to the gym today, Brendan was finishing up with his 4 o’clock group; they were doing the Team Challenge. I thought, “Yeah okay…I’m prepared for this. I did this last month. No worries…” I started riding the stationary bike, thinking that my time on the bike would also count toward the Team Challenge. Makes sense, right?

 

Yeah…not really.

 

Brendan had something else in mind for us: the Dirty 30’s. This is a routine where you do 30 different moves for 30 seconds each without stopping in between. Ooh, all my favorites were included in this one: push-ups, burpies, mountain climbers, plank, plank-mountain climbers (please do note the hint of sarcasm in my voice). Only two things made the Dirty 30’s palatable: the sprints (you know I love to run!) and the fact that we did this routine outside by the school pool. It was dusk , the sky was clear, a cool breeze could be felt on our faces…everything about that evening was gorgeous…well, everything except for me. It’s tough being gorgeous when you’ve got sweat pouring down your face and each breath you exhale feels like your last. In retrospect, I think this routine is called the Dirty 30’s because we end up cursing so much…

 

Jen told me I looked very focused while doing this...I was just trying to not fall off!! šŸ™‚
