Day 8 – Tyrranical Tuesday November 22, 2011

Holy crap.

 

I think all of my Tuesday posts will now start with “Holy crap.”

 

Brendan really put us through the ringer today. He had us do 5 circuit sets of 40-30-20. Don’t know what this means? Well, check this out:

He puts three different exercises together (for instance, pull-ups, medicine ball squat & press, and push-up rows). We have to do each movement for 40 seconds, then move onto the next until all three are completed. Then we get five seconds of rest (he’s so kind!) and we do the entire circuit again for 30 seconds…then 20 seconds. Catch my drift? (Oh, by the way, those exercises I listed above? Yeah…that was our first circuit). We still had four more circuit sets to go…

 

I would never lie to you, dear reader, so I’m telling you right now: I suck at pull-ups. Have you ever heard someone give a high-pitched squeal while working out? Well, you may have heard me tonight. Each pull-up was followed by a very audible “ee-yaaaah!” So sexy…

 

But that’s not the worst of it! Oh no…when I mistakenly said “Brendan, I can’t! I can’t do any more!” he said to me “You will finish this set! Don’t tell me you can’t do this!” Then he put his hand on the small of my back and pushed me up…three more times! Oh, the agony!! UUUUUUUGGGGGHHHH!!! Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy that he’s tough with me. You have to remember, I don’t mind taking the easy way out. I’m very content to just do three sets of 10 of any given exercise, and be done with it, so I’m glad he’s pushing me beyond my limits (please don’t tell him that!). It’s just that, at that particular moment, for those few seconds, I could really go postal on my trainer…
