Day 7 – It’s been a week already?? November 21, 2011

Today is Pilates day. In fact, Mondays are always Pilates day! We have an instructor who comes to the school twice a week to teach Pilates classes for an hour at a time. Now, some of you might be saying, “But Lady Ashton, that’s not real exercise…that’s just moving and stretching. You’re not getting a real workout with that garsh-fangled Pilates!” But au contraire! Please, tell that to my muscles on Tuesday morning when I wake up sore and aching. “Why, it feels like someone has been repeatedly punching me in the abs while I sleep!” I exclaim as I give my husband the side-eye. Then I realize that I had Pilates class the day before. Ah yes! Pilates…the silent killer workout!

 

For those of you who don’t know, Pilates is “a body conditioning routine that helps to not only build flexibility, but also strength, endurance, and coordination in the legs, abdominals, arms and back.” (thanks, Wikipedia!) I wish I could remember the name of the crazy-ass move she made us do today, but I can’t. I can only describe it as a sideways walking plank where you look like Spiderman and the Sqweegel (if you watch CSI, then you know what I’m talking about!) combined. It kinda gives me the creeps just thinking about it…

 

That's (not) me doing Pilates. Hey, if I already looked like that, I wouldn't have to write this blog! 😉
